Problem: Recently we had immense pleasure of working with a 28 Story Tower which had installed PRV’s but were still facing the issue of pipe bursting.
Cause: Due to 90 meters of Water Head, The Pressure in the supply line is Up to 9kg/cm². PRV that were installed were Piston Operated & that too without Strainer. This kind (Piston Operated) are not designed to control such high-pressure of 9kg/cm² resulting to pressure transmission from Inlet of PRV to Outlet due to which the downstream supply was pressurized leading to Pipe Bursting / house hold leakages and hidden damages to all water appliances in the house especially in Static Condition (Nobody Using Water).
Solutions & Results:
Our Technical Team visited the site & explained the Society office bearers
1) About the actual Hydraulic Pressure that existed on each floor.
2) How Pressure is calculated
3) What is the right placement of PRV Installation. They were also made aware the difference between Sana’s Aqua Green make PRV & Other makes PRV, as they have already tried installing 2-3 different makes of PRV but couldn’t get through the problem of Pipe Bursting & Leakages.
Team also inspected the shaft area and suggested PRV installation after understanding their Pipe Design of water distribution such that every floor gets a controlled pressure. One Sample PRV was installed at the lowest zone & was daily monitored & checking the performance by taking PRV Outlet Pressure reading & it was found that even in static condition there was no pressure transmission & the entire downstream supply line was controlled & was getting exactly mentioned pressure on every floor. Now they have replaced all the PRVs, to Sana’s Aqua Green PRV and have resolved all the issues that they were facing due to High pressure.
